“Excellent everything! Best bed and breakfast or hotel experience I ever had!” SW

When the Century House was built in 1912, it was on the outskirts of a growing city. Now in the heart of Salem, it’s within walking distance to the Oregon State Capitol, two universities, six museums, three city parks, and numerous art galleries. It’s one mile from Historic Downtown and the Willamette River, and a short drive to many choices of shopping and dozens of wineries. Salem is a perfect central location for day trips around the Willamette Valley, to the Cascade Mountains, or to the Oregon Coast. See below for a link to local places to visit. On a special note, Century House is just 1/2 mile from the Willamette Scenic Bikeway. (Here is a link to all of Oregon's Scenic Bikeways.)

OF NOTE:

***Century House boutique:
Since the beginning of Covid, I have been busy, busy, busy in the sewing room,
getting carried away with bird projects and of course a wide variety of pot holders.
Pillows of woodpeckers, ravens, puffins, cardinals, and a butterfly or two.
Items are now in a couple of shops around the state, but you can get your own peek of the inventory here.
If you express interest, and send me an e-mail, I can send some pics.
Easy, peasy shopping!

A CABIN IN THE WOODS!

Have you thought about getting away from the city and cozying up in a cabin in the woods?
I thought just that, and last summer found a cabin on Sunday, and bought it on Monday.
Check out the Larch Cabin at Cold Springs Resort in Camp Sherman, exactly 100 miles from Century House.
It is for rent when I’m not there.
The Larch Cabin is a stone’s throw from the Metolius River, and a five minute walk across the bridge to the ultimate Camp Sherman Store, Post Office, and book nook.
Just out the front door are seemingly infinite hiking/biking/snowshoeing trails in every direction, as well as paved roads for cycling if you prefer.
Fishing heaven.  Catch and release on the Metolious, but keepers for dinner at nearby lakes. And a two-minute walk to a stocked pond just for the kids, and they get to keep theirs!

The cabin is 550 square feet, plus a large, low loft with queen bed and a play corner.
Queen bedroom downstairs, and a queen sofa bed for extras.
Full kitchen, gas fireplace; fire pit and barbecue outside.
The deck, partly covered, is almost as big as the cabin! .
Party, party, or just sit in your deck chair and read a book with the trickle of the river in your ears.
