When the Century House was built in 1912, it was on the outskirts of a growing city. Now in the heart of Salem, it’s within walking distance to the Oregon State Capitol, two universities, six museums, three city parks, and numerous art galleries. It’s one mile from Historic Downtown and the Willamette River, and a short drive to many choices of shopping and dozens of wineries. Salem is a perfect central location for day trips around the Willamette Valley, to the Cascade Mountains, or to the Oregon Coast. See below for a link to local places to visit. On a special note, Century House is just 1/2 mile from the Willamette Scenic Bikeway. (Here is a link to all of Oregon's Scenic Bikeways.)

Rescued is my favorite breed…
Within 48 hours of the devastating Camp Fire in Paradise, California,
some 2300 animals were rescued and brought to makeshift
shelters in Chico and Oroville.
Some were badly burned, and most were traumatized.
On December 18th, Century House owner Jean Brougher
headed south to volunteer with California Disaster Services.
For three weeks, 12 hours a day, she met with fire survivors
and assisted them with finding their lost pets.
It was quite a process, with as many tears
of disappointment as tears of happiness.
Teams of veterinarians came from Oregon and
Texas to help with the needs.

Jean Brougher
Your hostess, Jean Brougher, invites you to come home
at the end of your day and be spoiled at the Century House.
What's for breakfast?
Century House hostess Jean Brougher is enthusiastically able to accommodate most diets and food preferences.
With few exceptions, all dishes are homemade, with fresh/local-when-feasible ingredients.
Even many of the flours are fresh-ground in the Vitamix(R).
Coffee freshly roasted locally.
